ACCESS: Open Event and Piloting Activity at Lakoniki Scholi

On December 16, 2025, ETHOS HUB successfully organised an Open Event in the framework of the European project ACCESS “Addressing Critical Speech Therapist Shortage in Schools” at Lakoniki Scholi – Fragki Schools. The interactive workshop, titled “Special Learning Difficulties: From Theory to Practice”, brought together educators interested in strengthening their knowledge and practical skills in identifying and supporting students with learning difficulties within mainstream classrooms. During the event, participants were introduced not only to key concepts related to learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, but also to the ACCESS e-learning course “ACCESS in learning difficulties”, which was presented and piloted for the first time.

The course is specifically designed to empower primary school teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to identify and manage learning difficulties within mainstream classrooms. It includes topics such as:

  • Introduction to Learning Difficulties
  • Targeted strategies and exercises
  • Tailored interventions
  • Classroom management
  • Collaboration with families

As part of the piloting process, educators had the opportunity to explore the course content, discuss its practical application, and provide initial feedback. This interactive approach ensured that the course responds effectively to real classroom needs. The event also highlighted the importance of early identification and a holistic approach that involves both teachers and families in supporting children aged 6–10. ACCESS focuses on equipping educators with practical tools while promoting inclusive learning environments. The workshop concluded with positive feedback from participants, who expressed strong interest in applying the presented methods and in continuing their engagement with the ACCESS project.

The ACCESS Project is a targeted initiative aimed at improving early identification and support for children aged 6–10 with learning difficulties (LDs) such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. Recognizing the growing prevalence of LDs and the importance of early intervention, ACCESS empowers primary school teachers with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to detect and manage emerging learning challenges within mainstream classrooms. The project also provides parents with practical guidance to support their children’s learning at home. By fostering strong collaboration between educators and families, ACCESS promotes inclusive education and strives to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full academic and social potential. Read more at https://access-edu.eu/
