From April 20 to 24, 2026, partners of the FOCUS project “Foreign Language Opportunities for Children with Unique Skills” gathered in Perugia, Italy, for a key project week combining a Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) and an international teacher training activity.

The week began with the Partnership Meeting on April 21, hosted at the Provincia di Perugia. Partners reviewed the overall progress of the project, including work package implementation, financial and administrative updates, and the quality assessment of the six training modules developed within the project. Special focus was placed on the e-learning platform and the FOCUS digital tools, ensuring their readiness for the next stages of implementation and dissemination.

The following three days (April 22–24) were dedicated to the Transnational Training, held at the Sangallo Palace Hotel. The training brought together around 20 education professionals from across Europe, creating a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

The training aimed to strengthen educators’ competences in inclusive foreign language teaching, with a particular focus on supporting children aged 6–12 with learning difficulties. Participants explored innovative methodologies such as Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL), AI-supported teaching tools, and inclusive classroom strategies, while gaining hands-on experience with the FOCUS training modules and educational games.

The programme included interactive workshops, case studies, role-playing activities and practical exercises covering key topics such as understanding learning difficulties, adapting foreign language teaching methods, collaborating with families, and designing inclusive learning experiences. The six modules developed within the FOCUS project were presented and tested in practice, allowing participants to actively engage with the content and provide valuable feedback for further refinement.

ETHOS HUB actively participated in the training, accompanied by two teachers from Lakoniki Scholi, who joined the activity as part of the project’s effort to engage local educators and ensure the transfer of knowledge to the wider community. Their participation contributed to the exchange of experiences and strengthened the link between project results and real classroom practice.

The training concluded with an evaluation session, where participants reflected on their learning outcomes and shared key insights gained during the experience. Certificates of participation were awarded, marking the successful completion of an intensive and impactful learning journey.

Overall, the Perugia meeting and training represented a major milestone for the FOCUS project, reinforcing collaboration among partners while equipping educators with innovative tools and approaches for inclusive foreign language teaching.

The FOCUS project aims to fill the knowledge gap among foreign language teachers, creating inclusive classrooms and providing innovative resources to support students with learning difficulties.
